WHITEHALL–Whitehall junior quarterback Kyle Stratton has been chosen as the Local Sports Journal Offensive Player of the month for September.

Stratton has completed 35-of-56 passes for 765 yards. He has tossed 14 touchdowns with three interceptions. Stratton has also carried the ball 45 times for 434 yards and five touchdowns. (These stats do not include last Friday’s game against Oakridge).

“Kyle is doing a great job his junior year playing quarterback,” said Whitehall coach Tony Sigmon. “Last year, Kyle was in a quarterback competition with senior Brodi Fogus. That competition pushed both kids. I think having to prove to everyone he could play at a high level really has allowed him to grow this year.

“Last year Kyle’s best games happened toward the end of the season  against Montague and Sparta in the playoffs and he has done a nice job building off of those successes,” Sigmon said.

“During the offseason, Kyle has worked really hard in the weightroom getting stronger all while excelling as a varsity basketball and baseball player,j” Sigmon said.

Improvement was evident during the summer in the 7-on-7 camps. One highlight was his performance at the camp at Western Michigan University.

“As fall camp has progressed Kyle really has taken a leadership role on and off the field,” Sigmon said.

Kyle is the son of Keith and Jodi. He has a 4.0 grade-point-average.
