BIG RAPIDS– Mona Shores’ graduate Brady Rose left his mark for the Ferris State Bulldogs on Saturday.
Rose caught five passes for 84 yards and that included a 69-yard touchdown pass as the Bulldogs advanced in the NCAA Division II Super Regional with a 17-14 victory over Pittsburgh State.
Ferris kicked a 20-yard field goal with 3:03 remaining to advance to this Saturday’s showdown with archrival Grand Valley State, the No. 1 seed in the tournament. The Bulldogs (11-1) will travel to undefeated Grand Valley looking to avenge a 22-21 defeat back on Oct. 15 in Big Rapids.
The rematch is set for 1 p.m.
Rose’s touchdown came late in the first quarter and put the Bulldogs up 14-0. Rose, who plays the slot position, is a redshirt freshman.
Another key contributor at the slot position against Pittsburgh State was former Muskegon Big Red CJ Jefferson, who caught eight passes for 68 yards.
Also seeing a significant amount of playing time from the area are two redshirt freshman – former Ludington Oriole Jake Plamondon and former Montague Wildcat Brennan Schwarz.
Plamondon (6-3, 287) has played in 11 games this season. He has recorded 15 tackles, one of which came in Saturday’s narrow victory.
Schwarz (6-3, 215) has played in nine games for the Bulldogs and recorded 12 tackles.

Brady Rose is a jewel, no surprise to anyone, but his Dad Ken is familiar to some of us grizzled Ferris fans who saw him score a defensive TD for Grand Valley at Lubbers Stadium in the 90s, in what was a Bulldogs win. Glad the son is on the “right side” of this rivalry, looking forward to Saturday!
