FRUITPORT –The Fruitport volleyball team clinched its first Division 2 district title since 2017 on Saturday afternoon.

The Trojans went the distance with Montague in a tough battle and came out on top, 26-24, 25-27, 18-25, 25-17, 15-11.

Sadie Haase led the charge for the Trojans with 19 kills, eight digs and an ace. Auebre Johnson added 13 kills, 12 digs and an ace. Gracelynn Olson chipped in 43 assists with 14 digs and Lauren Riedel had 16 digs and two aces.

The Wildcats’ Laura Borras had 25 digs, 16 kills and five aces, while Britta Johnson had 21 kills and Anastasia Trevino had 11. Also, Alissa Wynn had 32 digs, with a pair of aces, and Jaelyn Sundberg had 52 assists, 18 digs and seven kills.

Fruitport will head to Comstock Park on Tuesday to face Fremont in the regional semifinal round.

Montague finished the season 24-25-1.
