KENT CITY–The Kent City girls basketball team kicked off their season on Tuesday evening in a home contest against Lowell and fell, 66-39, to the Red Arrows.

The Eagles were plagued by foul trouble and poor shooting throughout the night.

Senior Lexie Bowers sat most of the 2nd quarter with three fouls and picked up her fourth halfway through the third quarter.

Junior Maddie Geers played much of the first half with two fouls and committed a third early in the second half as well.

Despite those struggles, Kent City was able to keep the game close through the first half and entered halftime down only four points, 28-24.

In the third quarter, bad turnovers and continued shooting struggles left the Eagles down 18. They were unable to tighten up the game and finally lost by a 27 point margin.

Leading Kent City was Maddie Geers with 16 points, 6 rebounds, and 3 blocks. Sophomore Hailey Kamphuis added 12 points.

Kent City will look to right the ship this Friday in their first league contest at Lakeview.
