NORTON SHORES–Mona Shores senior Nico Taylor signed his national letter of intent on Wednesday afternoon to attend Saginaw Valley State University next fall.
 
The signing took place in the Hanichen Gymnasium.
 
Taylor will be entering will be entering his third season next spring. His freshman season was canceled because of covid restrictions.
 
Here is some golf information on Nico during his three-year career at Mona Shores:  
-2-time all-conference
-First-team all-state Division 1 in 2022
-75.7 average his junior year
-Regional co-medalist
-All-tournament team (top 10) his junior year at the following events:  Corporal B invite at American Dunes, Oakland Hills Invite, GMAA city championship, Forest Hills Central Invite, Mona Shores Invite, Eagle-Buc Invite.  

Saginaw Valley is a member of the GLIAC (Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference) in Division II.

Taylor will enter the Cardinal golf program under second-year coach Daniel Allen, who was hired in June 2020. During the 2021-22 seasons, the Cardinal men just missed reaching the GLIAC semifinals after finishing fifth.

“Nico has the No. 1 thing I want in a golfer in our program:  Passion,” said Sailor coach Scott Volkmann. “He is a tireless worker and puts in long hours on the course.  He is constantly learning and growing as a player.  I am very excited for Nico to continue his career as a student-athlete at Saginaw Valley State.  As an alumnus of the SVSU golf program, I know Nico will continue to carry on the tradition of SVSU golf.”
 
Nico is the son of Tim and Cindy Taylor.
