NORTH MUSKEGON–It was the first game of the girls basketball season and it showed on Tuesday night.

Turnovers and cold shooting were the order of the evening in Muskegon Catholic’s 30-14 victory over the North Muskegon Norse.

“The first game of the season is out of the way so nerves should settle down,” North Muskegon coach Sarah Knuth said.

North Muskegon was plagued by 18 turnovers, thanks for the Crusaders’ ability to defend.

MCC was led by Carrie Ladd with 16 points and Claire LaVigne with eight.

North Muskegon was led by Grace Philpot with six points and Abbie Wiegers with five. Kaylee Martin chipped in five rebounds and three steals while Georgia Skujins had five rebounds and Emma Buchmiller had four steals.

“It was a good game for us to learn about ourselves as a team and as competitors,” said Knuth, whose team forced 13 turnovers.
