MUSKEGON — The Muskegon Lumberjacks allowed four unanswered goals over the final two periods on Saturday night and dropped a 4-2 decision to the visiting Youngstown Phantoms.

The game was played at Trinity Health Arena.

Jake Richard scored Muskegon’s first goal at 6:25 of the opening period with a power-play tally. Richard’s sixth goal of the season was assisted by Nathan McBrayer and Gavin McCarthy.

Ethan Whitcomb scored his sixth of the season, an unassisted red lighter, at 18:34 of the first period.

Then Youngstown took over and scored one goal in the second period and three more in the third to steal away the victory from the Lumberjacks. The final tally was scored into an empty net.

Muskegon outshot Youngstown 27-24.

Lumberjacks’ goaltender Conor Callaghan stopped 20-of-23 shots he faced. His record dipped to 5-2 on the season.

Muskegon returns to action next weekend with home games on Friday and Saturday against Green Bay.
