BROOKLYN–The Spring Lake Lakers girls cross country team had a successful day at the MHSAA Division 2 cross country state finals on Saturday afternoon.

The Lakers finished in sixth place. 

Otsego won the title with 87 points while East Grand Rapids came in second place with 98 and Grand Rapids Christian finished third with 153.

The Lakers finished with 223 points while the Ludington Orioles came in 19th place with 442 points.

The Lakers top runners were senior Lily Parker (19th), freshman Alexis Kotkowicz (35th), sophomore Lexie Ruffing (51st), junior Bea Reeser (87th) and freshman Meghan Guczwa (109th).

Top runners for Ludington included sophomore Summer Brower (18th), sophomore Autumn Brower (121st), sophomore Nadia Grierson (140th), senior Annie Kline (183rd) and junior Olivia Anderson (189th).

Other local results included junior Remington Arney (Newaygo/34th), freshman Linnea Paige (Fremont/45th) and senior Ariana Treat (Whitehall/57th).

In the boys’ division, the Fremont Packers finished in 13th place with 372 points.

East Grand Rapids took the title with 132 points while Chelsea was right behind them with 137.. Pinckney came in third with 143.

The top runners for Fremont were junior Sean Pettis (29th), junior John Christensen (87th), sophomore Carter Sherman (99th), senior Henrik Quist (140th) and freshman Issac Romero (190th).

Other top local runners included senior Carter McIIroy (Whitehall/32nd), senior Andre Richmond (Whitehall/59th), junior Jose Flores (Ludington/114th), sophomore Vincent Pollock (Fruitport/128th), junior Lucas Ruffing (Spring Lake/129th) and sophomore Peyton Ruel (Oakridge/152nd).
