ZEELAND –The Whitehall boys basketball team lost to Zeeland East on Wednesday evening by a final score of 72-55 in a game that took place at Zeeland East as part of their holiday tournament.

Poor shooting was a big factor in the Viking’s defeat as Whitehall shot 20-of-60 from the field while Zeeland East went 29-of 54 from the field.

The Viking’s struggled from beyond the arc shooting 2-of-15 while the host team converted on 9-of-17 from three point range.

Whitehall wasted opportunities at the charity stripe as well shooting just 13-of-27.

Zeeland East held a 15-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. Whitehall was outscored 19-12 in the second stanza and trailed 34-23 at the halftime intermission.

Zeeland East extended their lead in the second half racking up a 24-16 scoring advantage in the third quarter. The Viking’s managed a 16-14 advantage in the final eight minutes of action.

Camden Thompson led the Vikings with a double-double scoring 21 points and  grabbing 10 rebounds. 

Ca’Mar Ready tossed in 19 points and grabbed six rebounds. 

Whitehall (4-2, 2-0) will be right back into action at Zeeland West on Thursday, December 29.
