RAVENNA — Three players scored in double figures for the Ravenna boys basketball team as the Bulldogs got their first win of the season with a 61-41 West Michigan Conference Rivers Division victory over Shelby at home Thursday night.

 
Wyatt Young paced the Bulldogs with 14 points and was followed in the scoring column by Caleb Forsythe who put in 11 and Carter Schullo added 10.
 
The Bulldogs forged an 18-13 lead on the Tigers after the first quarter and then spread the margin out to 16 points, 35-19 by the half with a 17-6 advantage in the second period.
 
Shelby never could catch up, as the Bulldogs finished the third period with an 11-10 edge and headed into the fourth with a 46-29 advantage. Ravenna outscored the Tigers, 15-12 in the final eight minutes.
 
Ravenna, which shot 37 percent from the field, outrebounded the Tigers, 34-26, including 11-6 on the offensive glass. The Bulldogs had 12 steals to five for the Tigers.
 
Carson Claeys had a game-high 18 points for the Tigers, while Bishop Lee added seven and Wyatt Dickman five. Claeys also had five rebounds. Mason Garcia led the Tigers with five assists and two steals.
 
Ravenna improved to 1-2 overall and is 1-0 in the conference, and will next be in action next Tuesday when the Bulldogs are scheduled to host Hart in a conference game.
 
Shelby remained winless on the season at 0-4 and fell to 0-2 in the conference, with its next scheduled game on Tuesday at home against North Muskegon in a conference game.
