NORTON SHORES – The Mona Shores boys basketball team came out victorious in its season opener on Tuesday evening.

The Sailors topped West Ottawa, 63-58, despite a short bench due to illness and injury.

An opening quarter scoring run of 25-12 helped the Sailors build some distance that they carried throughout the game.

Though the Sailor lead decreased to 35-27 at the half, they were able to hold off West Ottawa in the second half.

Jordan Bledsoe led Mona Shores with 19 points, five rebounds and three assists. Jonathon Pittman followed with a double-double of 13 points and 11 rebounds. JT Foster chipped in with eight points while Mason Hallett, Ryan Opsommer, and Madden Flanders each added six points.

Mona Shores will be back in action at home on Friday to face Lowell.
