MUSKEGON–The Kent City Eagles girls’ team got back on the winning track Saturday afternoon as they cruised past the East Lansing Trojans, 71-33.

The game was part of the Lakeshore Classic Hoops Summit at Reeths-Puffer High School.

The Eagles’ one-two offensive punch of Lexie Bowers and Maddie Geers were too much for the East Lansing defense.

Bowers had a game-high 30 points, which included 7-of-15 from 3-point land. Geers dropped in 23 points. Bowers finished with eight steals, five assists, three rebounds and a blocked shot.

Geers led the Eagles with 10 rebounds while having five steals to go along with four assists and a blocked shot. Hailey Kamphuis chipped in with five points, three rebounds and two steals for Kent City.

The Eagles raced out to a 22-8 lead after the first quarter of action and extended that lead to 40-13 by halftime, outscoring East Lansing 18-5 in the second period.

Kent City racked up a 28-14 third-quarter scoring advantage in the third quarter to put the game away.

Kent City (2-2) will be back in action on Wednesday evening when they host Belding.
