FRUITPORT — The neighbors in Fruitport battled right down to the wire in girls’ basketball action on Tuesday night.

In the end, the Fruitport Trojans outlasted Fruitport Calvary Christian, 37-35, in the nonleague contest.

The Trojans led early on, but the Eagles battled back in the second quarter to take a 19-17 lead into the half. Fruitport surged back and took the lead, 28-25, heading into the final eight minutes.

Grace Sweet led Fruitport with 11 points. Auebre Johnson, Jorja Blackmer and Mikayla Belasco each added six points.

Nora Pollock had a strong all-around game for Calvary Christian with eight points, 10 steals, 14 rebounds and seven assists. McKena Wilson had 15 points, three steals and three steals. She made a trio of 3-pointers. Ava Wilson added 10 points.

Fruitport Calvary is now 0-2 on the season.
