MUSKEGON–The Muskegon Community College men’s basketball team was back in action Wednesday evening and fell to Kalamazoo Valley Community College, 80-69.

The visiting Cougars jumped out to a 46-28 halftime lead and never looked back enroute to the 11-point win over the Jayhawks, which did outscore Kalamazoo Valley 41-34 in the second half.

The Jayhawks shot 35.9 percent from the field, going 28-of-78. MCC hit 8-of-13 from the free-throw line and had 49 rebounds. The Jayhawks struggled from 3-point range (5-of-19).

Jarvin Graham (Perspective Joslin Campus) led the Jayhawks with 19 points. Jadakiss Lewis (Kalamazoo) tossed in 12 points, grabbed 8 rebounds, had 3 steals and dished out 4 assists.

Other contributors for MCC included Jacob May (Ravenna) with 10 points and 8 rebounds; Zalio Harris (Farmington) tossed in 8 points and also hauled down 8 rebounds. Vern Nash Jr. (Muskegon) chipped in 9 points, 3 rebounds and 1 steal.

Myles Johnson led the Cougars with 24 points.

The Jayhawks (4-2) will visit Southwest Michigan College (Dowagiac) at 3 p.m. Saturday.
