MUSKEGON – The Fremont boys basketball team used a fourth-quarter scoring push to put away Oakridge in WMC-Lakes play on Tuesday evening.

The Packers built some distance in the closing quarter and won, 64-56.

Both teams proved to be well matched as they traded baskets over the first two quarters. After swapping leads, the Packers held a 27-26 lead at the half.

The energy remained high after the break as the teams continued to fight neck and neck. Each team put up 14 third-quarter points as the the Packers held on to a one point lead.

The Packers found a new gear in the final quarter and grew their small lead with a 23-16 scoring advantage.

A hot handed Jordon McDonald racked up 27 points for the Packers. Chaz Miller also found success shooting and scored 18 points.

The Eagles’ Matt Danicek and Peyton Ruel posted 11 points and 10 points respectively.

Fremont (2-2, 1-1) will visit the Trojans of Fruitport on Thursday.

Oakridge (2-3, 1-2) is set to continue league action on Thursday at cross-town rival Orchard View.
