LUDINGTON — Ludington’s girls basketball team found itself in a real scrap against the visiting Benzie Central squad in Tuesday night’s non-conference game.
The host Orioles were able to survive, 49-41.
Benzie kept the game close from start to finish, staying within arm’s reach of the defending Division 3 semifinalists.
The Orioles finished the first quarter with a narrow 16-12 advantage and led 24-20 at the half.
Benzie came out strong in the second half and outscored the Orioles, 15-13 in the third quarter to pull within 37-35 going into the fourth. The Orioles had a 12-6 edge in the final eight minutes.
Olivia Lynn and Keelyn Laird each scored 10 points to lead the Orioles. Karli Meysar contributed nine and Jordyn Anderson added five.
Ludington (2-1) resumes West Michigan Conference Lakes Division action on Thursday at Oakridge.
