The Muskegon Lumberjacks didn’t let an early two-goal lead slip away on the first game night of new ownership and a new coach.

The Lumberjacks came through with an exciting 4-3 win in overtime over Team USA at Trinity Health Arena on Friday night. 
 
Peter Herms was announced in a press release earlier this week as Muskegon’s new owner while Parker Burgess was named interim head coach after the Lumberjacks parted ways with longtime coach, Mike Hamilton. 
 
Muskegon jumped on the board early in the win as newly acquired Ethan Fredericks got his first goal as a Lumberjack with five minutes left in the first period. The forward made his way to Muskegon in a deal inked with Des Moines earlier this week. 
 
Two minutes later, Justin Solvey put the Lumberjacks up 2-0 on his second tally of the season. 
 
Muskegon didn’t hold on to its lead very long though as Team USA rallied for three unanswered goals in the second period for a 3-2 lead. 
 
Nicholas Rexine tied things up for Muskegon early in the third period. 
 
Muskegon’s Cody Croal netted the game-winning goal in OT, delivering the Lumberjacks’ 12 win this season. 
 
The Lumberjacks have now moved up to third place in the Eastern Conference behind first place Chicago. 
Goalie Raythan Robbins helped force overtime for Muskegon, stopping 31 of 34 shots on the night for his second win this season. 

Muskegon returns back to home ice again on Saturday for a matchup with Chicago.
