WHITEHALL — The Montague Wildcats went on the road on Thursday night and earned a hard fought 44-34 victory over rival Whitehall.

A 15-4 scoring advantage in the third quarter provided the Wildcats (3-1, 2-0) with the margin of victory.

“We had a bunch of athletes step up into larger roles,” Wildcat coach Nick Thaler said. ” We learned a lot from our game with Spring Lake on areas where we needed to improve.  Through the physicality of this game, I thought we were able to shoot the ball a little better than Tuesday.”

Montague was led by Emma Peterson with 21 points, five rebounds, four assists and four steals. Addison Pranger chipped in eight points and nine rebounds. Haylee Schwarz had 11 rebounds to go with her five points.

“We realize that we are going to have some growing pains, but that work we are going to put in is going to pay off,” Thaler said.
