HESPERIA – The North Muskegon girls basketball team cruised by Hesperia in a WMC-Rivers matchup on Thursday evening.

The Norse used a balanced team effort to top the Panthers, 41-20.

“This game was an offensive and defensive confidence builder,” said North Muskegon coach Sarah Knuth.  “We still have a long way to go, but we are making positive progress with every practice and every game.”

North Muskegon built up a 28-8 first half lead and cruised the rest of the way.

Grace Philpot and Abbie Wiegers led the attack for the Norse with eight points apiece.

Kaylee Martin added seven points, seven rebounds, seven steals and six assists while Georgia Skujins also chipped in seven points.

“I’m proud of the effort that everyone made, including our two injured players who are important leaders on the bench and during breaks,” Knuth said.

The Panthers’ Samy Logana posted 12 points on the night.

North Muskegon visits Shelby on Tuesday.

Hesperia hosts Holton on Tuesday.
