BRETRHEN — Pentwater faced a tall, good shooting Brethren girls’ basketball team on Wednesday night and fell 58-16.

The West Michigan D League contest was played in Brethren.

Joycelyn Richison scored six points to lead the Falcons while Audrey Kieda added four. The Falcons shot only 6-of-28 from the floor and were 3-of-8 at the free throw line.

Elly Sexton dropped in 20 points to lead all scorers for the Bobcats (3-0, 2-0 WMD). Maddy Biller contributed 17.

“They are a tough squad,” said Falcons coach Joe Gorton. “They have lots of height, are strong and have good shooters. That might be the best zone offense I’ve coached against. Given their size and abilities, it made it really hard to go man-to-man against them so it was pick your poison … get killed by size mismatches in man, or hope they miss some shots in the zone.”

Brethren didn’t miss much on this night, and outscored the Falcons, 35-4, in the first half.

Pentwater (1-3, 1-2) hosts Bear Lake on Wednesday.
