OTSEGO –The Spring Lake boys swim team opened the season with a pair of losses in a tri-meet on Tuesday evening.

The Lakers fell to host Otsego (111-72) and Grand Rapids Christian (103-74).

“There was no cool down space available throughout the meet and there were only six lanes to compete in,” said Spring Lake coach Nick Zacek. “Though incredibly challenging for any swimmer, this will help our mental edge get stronger from meet to meet.”

Noah Fletcher was just 1.5 seconds short of a MHSAA state cut with a first-place finish in the 100 breast.

Fisher Halsey posted a first-place finish in the 100 breast. Johnny Wachter earned a MHSAA state cut with a second-place finish in the 100 butterfly.

Jonah VanDreumel led the Laker divers with a third-place spot in the 1-meter dive.

Spring Lake will host Ludington and Alma for its home opener next Thursday (12/15).
