GRAND RAPIDS – The Spring Lake boys’ swimming team competed in a quad match with Northview, Grandville and Holland on Tuesday evening.

It was a tough night, but several Lakers competed well with some personal record swims.

“We went up and were heavily out-manned by several schools two to three times our size, but the exposure to these types of venues is so important early on,” said Spring Lake coach Nick Zacek. “Looking forward to continuing seeing more of their progress over the next couple of months.”

Patrick Goran led the pack with a first-place finish in the 50 free (00:29). Ryan Fisher posted a personal record in the 100 back (1:05). Sebastian Ruiz earned a season-best time in the 50 free and 100 free.

Also, Cornel Rauwelda-Esprit recorded a season-best time of 1:02 in the 100 free.

Spring Lake returns to action Tuesday, Dec. 27 at Jenison.
