COOPERSVILLE – The Spring Lake boys basketball team notched their first win of the season against Coopersville on Friday evening.

The Lakers earned the OK Conference-Blue victory, 47-43.

The Lakers held a 10-2 lead after the first quarter, but stalled out and that allowed Coopersville a scoring run of 24-11. The Lakers were left behind 26-21 at halftime.

Spring Lake made up some ground in the third quarter and went into the fourth quarter trailing 37-35. 

The Spring Lake defense cracked down and limited Coopersville to just six points in the fourth quarter. Jaden Core converted a pair of free throws to ice the game with 6 seconds to play.

Zane Stahl and Zach Schlepp led with 14 points each while Reid Grimmer had seven points and six rebounds.

Spring Lake (1-1, 1-0) will be at home on Tuesday to host Sparta.
