WHITEHALL–The Whitehall and Spring Lake boys’ basketball teams battled back and forth on Tuesday evening.
 
It was the Vikings which made the plays down the stretch and earned a 64-61 victory over Spring Lake.
 
Whitehall jumped out to a 16-11 lead after the first quarter, but Spring Lake narrowed the gap to 27-26 at the half.
 
Each team put up 21 points in the third quarter. Whitehall held the upper hand, 16-14, in the final eight minutes.
 
Camden Thompson had a game-high 19 points to lead Whitehall. Joining him in double figures were Kal Koehler and Ca’mar Ready with 15 and 12 points, respectively.
 
Thompson had six rebounds while Koehler and Ready each grabbed five.
 
Sophomore center Zane Stahl led three Lakers in double figures with 15 points while Eli Morrison chipped in 13 and Zach Schlepp added 11. Wren Dephouse scored nine points and Jaden Core added six points and three steals coming off the bench. Schlepp had six rebounds while Carter Ball dished out five assists.
 
Whitehall will host Fruitport on Friday evening.
 
The Lakers are off until Dec. 16 when they travel to Coopersville.
