MUSKEGON — The Western Michigan Christian girls’ basketball team raced out to an 11-0 lead and cruised to a 61-14 victory over West Michigan Aviation Academy on Friday night.

The Warriors led 33-8 at the half.

“We played very well tonight,” WMC coach Sarahi Koetsier said. “We are still working on staying out of foul trouble.  We did a better job in the second half keeping our number of fouls committed down.  West Michigan Aviation Academy did a great of switching their defenses on us.  We had to adjust our offense accordingly.”

The Warriors were led by Ashley Folkema with 23 points and six rebounds. Kasey Folkema added eight points. Brooklyn Watts had 11 rebounds, six rebounds and seven steals. Maria Eenigenburg had six rebounds. Leading the team in assists were Kate Derdowski and Alia Zuidema with five each.
