GRAND RAPIDS – The Reeths-Puffer boys basketball team posted a win in the final round of the Cornerstone University Holiday Tournament on Wednesday evening.

Reeths-Puffer topped East Grand Rapids, 58-44.

The Rockets jumped out to a 31-14 lead after the first two quarters and carried that momentum into the second half.

The lead grew in the third quarter with a 20-14 scoring advantage. The 51-28 lead helped to solidify the victory.

“Great bounce back game for us tonight after a tough couple of losses,” said Rockets head coach Nathan Aardema. 

“Our guys shared the ball really well, defended much better and showed trust in each other and our system.”

Jaxson Whitaker, who earned All-Tournament Team honors, led Reeths-Puffer with 22 points, four rebounds and four assists.

Brayden Mitchelson chipped in with 14 points while Travis Ambrose had a double-double with 12 points and 11 rebounds. Autriel James contributed six rebounds and six assists.

Reeths-Puffer (2-2) hosts Jenison in the Hall of Fame Classic on Wednesday, Dec. 28.
