GRANT–The Grant Tigers girls basketball team made quick work of the Ravenna Bulldogs on Tuesday evening as they cruised by Ravenna 61-16.

The non-conference contest was played in Grant.

The Tigers led from start to finish as they raced out to a 22-1 lead by the end of after the first quarter. Grant extended the lead to 39-3 at the half.

Grant led 52-9 at the end of three quarters.

“This was a product of our phenomenal defensive rotation,” said Grant coach Josh Delamater. “It has been getting better every game and we forced Ravenna into a number of 10-second calls and 5-second calls and countless turnovers.”

“I credit Makayla Zerlaut for turning things around for us,” he said. “She caught on quickly to some adjustments we made over the weekend and once the other girls saw her rotations, they jumped on board. Jocee Pluene and Jayci Hance had another incredible performance on defense.”

That defense limited Ravenna to no field goals in the first half and four for the game.

Julie Ashbaugh led the Grant offense with a game-high 29 points, including going 9-of-10 from the free-throw line. Hance added 10 points including 6-of-6 from the line while Makayla Zerlaut added seven points and Reese Gragg had six.

Grant (8-4, 4-1) will host Howard City Tri-County on Friday.

Ravenna (3-6, 2-4) will host Fremont on Thursday.
