MCBAIN–The Comets of McBain Northern Michigan Christian outlasted the Western Michigan Christian Warriors on Friday evening in girls basketball action winning by a final score of 56-49.

The Comets jumped out to a 14-10 lead after the first quarter of action. The Warriors outscored the Comets 17-10 in the secoind stanza to take a 27-24 lead at the halftime intermission.

In the third quarter, the Warriors and Northern Michigan Christian battled for the lead. The Comets held a slight scoring edge of 15-10 in the period and took a 39-37 lead into the fourth quarter.

McBain Northern Michigan Christian secured the seven point win with a 17-12 scoring edge in the final eight minutes.

Western Michigan Christian was led by Ashley Folkema with 24 points and five rebounds.  Kate Derdowski had 12 points.
 
Western Michigan Christian (6-5) will travel to Ravenna on Monday and then host Whitehall on Tuesday evening
