FRUITPORT –The Fruitport Calvary Christian girls basketball team earned their first win of the season on Friday evening.

The Eagles got by Calhoun Christian, 43-25.

After shaking off a 9-8 deficit in the first quarter, the Eagles stepped up on both ends of the court to grab a 20-14 lead at the half.

The Eagles didn’t let up and outscored the Cougars 23-11 in the second half to ensure the victory.

Kamea Sutherland went 8-for-10 shooting and finished with 17 points. She also had three assists and a pair of steals. Ava Wilson added 12 points and nine rebounds. McKena Wilson scored 11 points, grabbed six rebounds and had three steals.

Fruitport Calvary Christian (1-5) will be at home on Thursday to face Hudsonville Libertas Christian.
