HOLTON –The Holton girls basketball team got by North Muskegon in a WMC-Rivers matchup on Tuesday, 50-33.

North Muskegon led at the half, 20-17

Holton opened the second half with a 7-0 scoring run and snagged a 38-27 lead by the end of the third period.

The Holton lead grew in the fourth quarter as the Red Devils outscored the Norse 12-6.

“I was very happy with the way we played in the second half,” said Holton coach Robert Jordan. “It was a 33-8 second half before I pulled the starters, and they hit five in the last minute. It was a dominant second half for us.”

Layla Cannady led the Red Devils with 15 points. Abby Fowler chipped in 10 points and six steals. Ryann Robins grabbed 10 rebounds, scored six points and had five steals.

The Norse’s Marilyn Gaston scored eight points while Georgia Skujins added six points and five rebounds.

Holton (5-5, 2-3) will travel to league-leading Hart on Friday.

North Muskegon (2-7, 1-3) will host Ravenna on Friday in conference play.
