MONTAGUE — The host Montague Wildcats came out fast on Friday night and soundly defeated the Oakridge Eagles, 64-34.

The Wildcats stormed to a 24-10 lead after one quarter and the advantage grew to 42-16 at the half.

“It was a good team win tonight against a solid Oakridge squad,” Montague coach Dave Osborne said. “We were aggressive and attacked the rim the best we have all season.”

Montague had four players reach double figures, led by Isaiah Atchison with 17 points, nine rebounds and three blocks. Braeden Johnston added 12 points while Rodney Brassfield and Owen Petersen had 10 each.

Peyton Ruel led Oakridge with 11 points and four assists. Julian Primmer had seven points and Matt Danicek had six points and five rebounds.

Oakridge (4-6, 2-4) is at Newaygo next Thursday.

Montague (6-5, 4-2) hosts Ravenna on Tuesday.
