MUSKEGON — Hart’s boys basketball team got off to a good start against Muskegon Catholic in Tuesday night’s non-conference game and rolled to a 76-30 victory.

The visiting Pirates remained undefeated at 12-0.

Parker Hovey, a senior, posted his eighth triple double of the season with 23 points, 18 rebounds and 11 assists to lead the Pirates.

He also had five blocks, which forced the Crusaders to adjust their shots in the paint.

Junior sniper Blake Weirich also had a solid night for the Pirates with 17 points and six rebounds, while Caleb Bitely tossed in 13 points and had a team-high four offensive rebounds.

Hart shredded the Crusaders’ zone defense, making 12 shots from 3-point range on the night.

Braden Gustin led the Crusaders with nine points. He also had five steals and four assists. Jacob Lyonnais hauled down 10 rebounds and Owen Lyonnais added seven points.

“We battled and did some good things in this game, but Hart was too much on both ends of the floor,” said Crusaders coach Rob Recknagel. “We handled the ball fairly well, but couldn’t finish plays and capitalize when we had numbers and good scoring opportunities.”

Hart (12-0, 6-0) travels to Manistee on Thursday night.

Muskegon Catholic (5-7) will head across town on Friday to face Muskegon Heights.
