KALAMAZOO–The Muskegon Community College men’s basketball team traveled to Kalamazoo Valley Community College on Wednesday evening and suffered a nonconference defeat to the Cougars, 91-75.

The Jayhawks already playing shorthanded to injury lost starter Jacob May to during the first half of Wednesday night’s contest.

The Cougars jumped out to a 42-32 first-half lead.

The Jayhawks were never able to muster a comeback. Kalamazoo Valley took advantage of the smaller Jayhawks lineup and outscored MCC 62-30 in the paint.

The Cougars outscored the Jayhawks 49-43 in the second half.

Jadakiss Lewis led the Jayhawks with 26 points and nine rebounds. Vern Nash III had 18 points. 

The Jayhawks (6-8) host Alpena Community College at 3 p,m, Saturday.
