SPARTA — Ludington’s bowling team went up against Kent City at Sparta on Wednesday night with the girls losing 25-5 and the boys falling 30-0.

“These are some tough games to swallow for both teams,” said Ludington coach Maggie Bates. “These lanes can be tricky, but the kids have to keep working at adjusting.

“Truthfully, they got into their own heads before they even started bowling today, and couldn’t get out of them. Bowling is 90 percent mental, and if you are already there you start it’s hard to get out.”

In the girls’ meet the Orioles lost the first Baker game 151-104 but won the second 124-119.

Game one scorers for the Orioles were Grace Ashley (121), Rylee Hardenburgh (104), Elicia Bird (100), Sophia Rupp (96) and Anna Grimes (82).

The second game scorers for the Orioles were Julia Gilchrist (126), Bird (105), Ashley (95), Sofia Vivenz (83) and Karly Gokey/Grimes (75).

On the boys side, the Orioles lost both Baker games, 179-112 and 200-108.

Scorers in Game One included Cameron Fetters (154), Jaden Shultz (123), Dominic Reamer (108) and Amari George/Darius Byrd (108).

Game Two scorers included Byrd (135), Damion Ott (131), Domnic Reamer (125), Fetters (122) and Schultz/Aidan Zinn (90).

“With regionals about a month away, we know exactly what we need to work on to get where we need to be,” said Bates.
