FRUITPORT — Mason County Central broke away from a halftime tie and pulled away for a 71-49 non-conference victory at Fruitport Calvary Christian Tuesday night.

The Spartans opened a four-point lead, 19-15, at the end of the first quarter, but were outscored, 13-9 in the second. The team went into the half tied at 28-all.
 
But the Spartans dominated the game from that point on, outscoring Calvary Christian, 17-13, in the third for a 45-41 edge going into the fourth. Central had a 17-8 advantage over the final eight minutes.
 
Will Chye had a big night for the Spartans with 35 points and 13 rebounds. Jayden Perrone scored 17 points, hauled down six rebounds and dished out three assists.
 
Fruitport Calvary was led by Bradley Richards with 27 points and Quinn Swanson with nine.
 
The Spartans (5-0, 3-0) hosts Ravenna Friday in a conference game.

Calvary Christian (3-3) hosts Wyoming Tri-Unity Christian in the Alliance League on Friday night.
