Mona Shores hockey couldn’t capitalize on the start of its three-game home stand with an 8-5 loss to Saginaw Heritage on Friday.

The Sailors (10-7) took an opening lead in the first period with a Brooks Robinson goal off an Isaac Habetler assist. Heritage answered with five-straight goals, giving the Sailors a 5-1 deficit that stretched into the second period.

Ethan Ring put Mona Shores back on the board in the second, but Heritage responded with three more goals for an 8-2 lead.

Mona Shores scored three third period goals, two by Jack Reelman and another tally from Nathan Tilden.

Habetler finished with a goal and two assists for Mona Shores. Braelin Hyrns took the loss in net.

The Sailors return to home action on Wednesday when they will host Grand Rapids Christian.
