GRAND RAPIDS – The Montague girls wrestling team had a successful day at the Northview Invitational on Saturday.

All four of the Lady Mat Cats fought their way to the finals.

“We are starting to perform at a good time of the year,” said head coach Kristoffer Maddox. “We have high expectations at Montague, so it was great to see all four of our girls performing and putting on a great showing today”

Savannah Winkleblack secured her fourth consecutive tournament win while Natalie Bassett earned her second straight win.

Winkleblack remains unbeaten against girls this season and her only two losses came against boys.

Ava Pelton and Emma Pendell both lost in their final match.

“We are extremely proud of our girls and look to keep building upon our success today.”

The Mat Cats will be back in action on Friday at the West Ottawa Invitational.
