RAVENNA- –The Montague varsity wrestling team had a solid day at the Lloyd Cogswell Invitational on Saturday.

The Wildcats earned a fourth-place finish in a 14-team field.

“We got some great experience on the mat today and are very thankful that we had the opportunity to compete,” said coach Kristoffer Maddox. “We still have a few guys out with injuries so we are happy with our effort.” 

Tristan Winkleblack posted a first-place finish while Jimmy Thommen and Joe Winkleman claimed second-place spots.

“Our girls continue to be challenged and are grateful for the opportunity to have local tournaments full of girls to compete in,” Maddox said.

Savannah Winkleblack went 3-0 with a first-place finish while Natalie Bassett and Emma Wendell earned second-place finishes,

Fletcher Thommen and Michael Moore claimed third place in their weight classes.

“We fought hard and are continuing to build a great group of wrestlers,” Maddox said. “I’m proud of our guys for battling today.”

Montague will travel to Hart on Wednesday. They will face off with Hart and Shelby.
