PETOSKEY–The Muskegon Community College Jayhawks basketball team is battered and bruised with injuries of late. One constant has been the play of Vern Nash III.

On Saturday, Nash scored 27 points, including 20 in the opening half. However, the Jayhawks dropped a 76-57 decision to host North Central Michigan College.

Unfortunately, the Jayhawks got another blow as Kaden George broke his shoulder bone and will be out for the season.

MCC led by seven points with about 11 minutes left in the half, but NCMC fought back. The two teams went into the half tied at 38-all.

The Timberwolves doubled up on the Jayhawks in the second half, 38-19, to secure the win.

Nash has eight rebounds to go with his 27 points. Jarvin Graham tossed in 13 points, grabbed seven rebounds and had four steals. Jadakiss Lewis contributed nine points and four rebounds.

NCMC took advantage of their depth and got 32 bench points compared to the Jayhawks’ four. North Central Michigan College outrebounded Muskegon, 45-37.

MCC (7-12, 1-4) travels to Mid-Michigan Community College in Mount Pleasant at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
