GRAND RAPIDS — Timely plays down the stretch lifted the North Muskegon Norsemen to a 42-36 nonleague basketball victory over Potters House.

Not only did North Muskegon make some timely plays, but canned just enough free throws down the stretch to secure the narrow victory.

The Norsemen led by three points at the half then trailed by one heading into the final period.

Troy McManus led North Muskegon with 12 points. Sam Gallo added nine points and six rebounds. Lamarkis Graham had six points and James Young had six points and five rebounds.

“It was a tough defensive battle as both teams really guard hard,” NM coach Chuck Rypstra. “The ball was not going in for either team tonight and we were just able to make a few more plays. We got a couple of timely baskets that they didn’t match and then made just enough free throws.”

Potters House was led by Quincy Winkle with 15 points.

North Muskegon (7-2, 2-2) travels to Holton on Tuesday night.
