WHITEHALL – The Oakridge girls basketball team fought off Whitehall for a WMC-Lakes victory on Thursday evening.

The Eagles won, 35-27.

The Eagles opened with a spark and led 12-6 after the first quarter. The energy fizzled out in the second stanza as the Vikings fought back to go into the halftime break tied at 15-15. 

After losing the opening lead, the Eagles tightened up and found the upper hand to outscore the Vikings 20-12 over the second half.

Kaelinn Jozsa led the way with 13 points and a pair of steals. Anna Lundquist followed with 10 points, eight rebounds and four blocks.

Also, Destyni Lane scored seven points, snagged four steals and grabbed four rebounds.

Oakridge (5-2, 3-2) will play host to Muskegon Catholic Central on Tuesday.

Whitehall (3-4, 1-3) is set for more league play on Tuesday at Fremont.
