NORTH MUSKEGON–The Oakridge Eagles girls basketball team got off to a fast start on Thursday against the North Muskegon Norsemen.
 
The result was a 54-30 victory in a non-conference contest.
 
Oakridge raced out to a 15-2 lead after the first eight minutes of action and never looked back.
 
The Eagles extended the lead to 26-12 by the half by outscoring North Muskegon 11-10 in the second stanza.
 
Oakridge put the game away in the third quarter by racking up a 17-8 scoring advantage to take a commanding 43-20 lead going into the fourth quarter.
 
The Eagles ended up with a 11-10 fourth-quarter advantage.
 
Anna Lundquist led the Oakridge offense with a game high 17 points. Joining her in double figures was Andrea Romero-Serrano with 11 points.
 
Grace Philpot led North Muskegon with eight points. Abbie Wiegers chipped in six points and eight rebounds.
 
“They (Oakridge) seemed to make nearly everything they put up,” North Muskegon coach Sarah Knuth said. “Their press created too many turnovers, 26. They played very well. We played hard and shot better, but Oakridge was too much for us.”
 
Oakridge (8-3, 4-2) will host Fruitport Calvary Christian on Friday.
 
North Muskegon (3-8, 2-4) travels to Whitehall for a 2:30 p.m. game on Saturday.
