GRAND RAPIDS – The Spring Lake boys basketball team knocked off the rust from an 11-day break to earn an OK Blue victory on Tuesday evening.

The Lakers started slow but found their energy and got by Grand Rapids West Catholic, 52-42.

Both teams were neck and neck at the halftime break with a score of 25-25. 

The Lakers came out of the locker room and outscored West Catholic 13-9 in the third quarter. The small scoring run gave the Lakers a 38-34 lead.

The pace continued into the fourth quarter allowing the Lakers to solidify the win with a 14-8 scoring advantage. 

Zach Schlepp led the offense with 14 points on the evening. Zane Stahl and a good night with a double-double, 11 blocks, 10 rebounds and seven points.

Karson George and Collin Burn played solid off the bench with six points and five points respectively. 

Spring Lake (4-2, 2-0) will continue league play on Friday. The Lakers will travel to Holland Christian.
