UNIVERSITY CENTER–The Muskegon Community College Jayhawk men fell behind early, battled back, then fell to Delta Community College, 70-66.

The Jayhawks trailed 38-25 at the half. A 16-0 run in the latter stages of the opening half pushed Delta into the big lead. That, coupled with MCC’s cold shooting (24 percent in the first half), put them behind early.

Solid defense to start the second half edged the Jayhawks closer, but they could not overtake Delta.

Vern Nash poured in 33 points and added three rebounds and two assists to lead the Jayhawks. Jarvin Graham added 10 points and two rebounds. Logan Manciu had a strong game on the boards with 13 rebounds. Jalid Harris had eight points and eight rebounds and Jadakiss Lewis had eight points and four rebounds.

Muskegon CC is still playing without starters Jacob May and Jacob Mueller due to injuries.

MCC (7-9, 1-1) travels to play Bay Community College on Saturday.
