HOLLAND–The Spring Lake Lakers boys basketball team continues to surprise folks in the OK-Blue as they went to Holland Christian on Friday and returned home with a 49-47 win over the Maroons.
 
It was the sixth road game out of the seven games the Lakers have played this season.
 
Things didn’t look so good at first as Holland Christian jumped out to a 14-7 lead after one quarter of play.
 
Spring Lake got rolling in the second stanza and took a 22-21 halftime lead by outscoring the Maroons 15-7 in the quarter.
 
Holland Christian held the upper hand in the third quarter 16-15 and tied things up at 37-37 entering the fourth quarter.
 
The Lakers held on for the win with a 12-10 scoring advantage in the final eight minutes to secure the victory.
 
Eli Morrison and Zach Schlepp led the Spring Lake offense with 14 points each. Zane Stahl tossed in 12 points.
 
Spring Lake (5-2, 3-0) will face Allendale at home on Tuesday evening.
