HOLLAND – The Spring Lake boys swim team put forth a valiant effort against a tough OK Conference-Blue opponent on Tuesday evening.

The Lakers fell short to a tough Holland Christian squad, 100-81.

“As it goes year after year, competing with Holland Christian brings out the best in us,” said Spring Lake coach Nick Zacek.  “It’s especially great being able to compete with them towards the home stretch of the season when everyone’s in shape and condition for these races.”

Jonah VanDreumel notched another first-place in the armstand dives.

“We watched Jonah earn his sixth straight dual meet win in diving, putting him in a great position to do well at next month’s diving regionals,” said Zacek.

The team of Ryan Fisher, Nathan Navarre, Johnny Wachter and Kyle Eaker made the MHSAA Division 3 state cut in the 200-medley relay.

Fisher also earned personal-best swims in the 50 back, 50 free and 100 back. Brandon Kucharski posted personal bests in the 200 IM and 100 breast.

“These boys are going to taper exceptionally well for championship season coming up as February approaches,” Zacek said. “I can’t wait to see it.”

Spring Lake will be at home on Tuesday, Feb. 7 for Senior Night against Hamilton.
