WHITEHALL — Camden Thompson poured in 31 points and added 15 rebounds and led the Whitehall Vikings to an 82-69 victory over the visiting Mona Shores Sailors on Tuesday night.

Whitehall raced out to a 24-13 lead after one quarter and built the advantage to 49-33 at the half. Whitehall came out strong after halftime and led 66-37 after three quarters. The Sailors fought back in the final period with a 32-16 scoring advantage.

Thompson made 11-of-19 shots from the field. He also had three blocks and three steals. Trannon Aylor added 24 points for the Vikings. Ca’mar Ready added nine points and Jack Houtemann added eight.

Mason Hallett led Mona Shores with 19 points. Freshman Ryan Opsommer had 13 points, six assists and three steals. JT Foster added seven points, six rebounds and five assists. In his first varsity game, Landyn Smith had nine points. Paul Ritter had nine points, two assists and two steals.

The second round of conference play begins on Friday with Mona Shores (4-10, 1-6) hosting Holland.

Whitehall (11-4, 5-1) travels to Grand Rapids Covenant Christian on Friday.
