WALKERVILLE–The Walkerville Wildcat boys’ basketball team notched their first win of the season on Thursday evening with a 62-42 West Michigan D League win over Big Rapids Crossroads Academy.
Walkerville jumped out to a 14-7 lead after the first eight minutes of action.
The Wildcats built on that lead in the second quarter with a 20-6 scoring advantage and took a 34-13 lead into the half.
The Walkerville offense didn’t slow down in the third period with a 20-10 advantage to take a commanding 54-23 lead into the fourth quarter.
Connor Shafer led Walkerville with a game-high 24 points, seven rebounds and four steals. Zeontae De La Paz tossed in 14 points and grabbed a game-high 16 rebounds. Jordan Oomen and Angel Santillan Lopez each chipped in eight points.
Walkerville (1-6, 1-5) will travel to Manistee Catholic Central next Thursday, Jan. 19.
