ZEELAND–Jaxson Whitaker and Travis Ambrose each scored 19 points on Friday evening as Reeths-Puffer got by Zeeland West, 62-51, in an OK Conference contest.
Ambrose also hauled down a game-high 11 rebounds and had three blocked shots. Whitaker hit five shots from beyond the arc, leaving him one short of the school record for 3-point shots made. Whitaker also had six rebounds and four assists.
Other key contributors for the Rockets included Antrel Jones with eight rebounds along with Tayte Vanderleest and Brayden Mitchelson six points each.
Reeths-Puffer jumped out to a 16-12 lead after the first eight minutes and went on to lead 29-20 at the half.
The Rockets outscored Zeeland West 19-16 during the third period. The hosts held the upper hand, 15-14, during the final eight minutes.
