MONTAGUE–As the postseason approaches, the Montague Wildcats ended a four-game losing skid with a key 78-68 win over Grant.

The first half was a dogfight between the two squads as Montague led 21-19 at the end of the first quarter. The Wildcats led 42-41 at halftime. Montague pulled away in the third quarter and led 64-55.

“It was a great team win tonight,” Montague coach Dave Osborne said. “We’re looking forward to continued improvement as we move towards districts.”

Isaiah Atchison had a dominant performance with 30 points, 14 rebounds, six steals, four assists, and four blocks. Owen Raeth added 16 points and four rebounds. Hunter Osborne had 10 points and three assists. Braedon Johnston tallied eight points and nine rebounds. Owen Peterson contributed seven points and four rebounds.

The Tigers’ three-game winning streak came to an end with the loss.

Montague (10-9, 5-5) hosts Western Michigan Christian on Thursday.

Grant (10-8, 6-3) travels to Morley Stanwood on Friday.
